Caleb Putnam was born into a Navy family on April 13, 1998. He spent his childhood in sunny Orlando, FL, the beaches of Monterrey, CA and the leafy green suburbs of Manassas, VA. Caleb was a precocious child with endless curiosity, lots of energy, and a knack for not accepting “no” for an answer.
Caleb graduated from Osbourn High School in 2016. He easily grasped concepts and received good grades without having to overtax himself. He was the Team Captain of Lambda Corps Robotics, participated in the SeaPerch underwater robotics competition and was the founder of the Web Design Club. In his spare time, he focused on philanthropy in his local community.
With the tragic stories of school shootings, record high homelessness, overflowing animal shelters and elderly neglect peppering the news, Caleb began to dedicate his time and efforts into making a difference. He frequently volunteered at the Manassas Baptist Church soup kitchen and mission, and ministered to the homeless in Washington, DC shelters. An avid animal lover, he served as a volunteer at animal shelters throughout Prince William County and rescued a golden retriever named Duke. In June of 2020, Caleb formally began his charity, The Benevolent Cavalry.
On August 31, 2020, Caleb unexpectedly passed away. A true lover of life, Caleb was a humorous storyteller, avid writer, determined philanthropist, and dedicated Michael Bublé fan. He was truly one of a kind. Caleb will never be forgotten but forever remembered and missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
To honor to his memory, Caleb’s family renamed his charity Caleb’s Benevolent Cavalry and is continuing his mission of making our world a better place, focusing, as he did, within the local community helping our most vulnerable and disadvantaged populations - the homeless (human and animal), disadvantaged youth and elderly in need.
